Share Skipton gets the keys!

After months of negotiations and fundraising, we are excited to announce that the Share Skipton Library of Things will be moving into 48 Newmarket Street (the former SCAD shop) in Skipton, North Yorkshire.

We’ll refurbish the shop, which has been empty since December 2022, using funding received from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) via North Yorkshire Council under their Community Climate Action Programme. This was part-matched by grant funding already received from local environmental consultancy, Beyondly.

The funding will be used to refurbish and improve the energy efficiency of the premises, fit the shop out for use as a Library of Things, and support our running costs until March 2025. There's lots to be done before we open and, now we have premises, we will soon be able to receive donations for the library.

Share Skipton trustees and volunteers standing outside the new premises, ready to clear it out

On April 13th, a group of volunteers were able to head inside for the first time and clear the shop to get it ready for the refurbishment work to start. A big thank you to the volunteers who helped.

It's great to see our Library of Things is beginning to take shape!
